Jakarta - Bank Indonesia, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Transportation, and the DKI Jakarta Government, on Friday (14/3), officially launched QRIS Tanpa Pindai (QRIS TAP), which is an innovation in the digital payment system. QRIS TAP provides an alternative means of payment that is fast, easy, cheap, safe, and reliable for the public, especially in supporting public services and retail transactions digitally. With QRIS TAP, transactions are made simply by bringing a smartphone close to the payment terminal.
The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, emphasized in his remarks the benefits of the Near Field Communication (NFC) based QRIS TAP, which will increase the speed and convenience of contactless transactions for the public. “This implementation will expand the digital payment ecosystem that is inclusive, safe, and cheap for public services, and supports the Government's Asta Cita program. The implementation of QRIS TAP is the result of a very strong collaboration between BI, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Transportation, Payment Service Providers (PJP), and the DKI Jakarta Government so that this service can be used by the community,” explained Governor Perry.
The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, expressed full support for the implementation of QRIS TAP. “The implementation of QRIS TAP is a collaboration of payment and transportation that is in line with the national vision of digital transformation, contributes to improving the efficiency of public services, and encourages the expansion of the national digital ecosystem. QRIS TAP is a catalyst for community mobility, in line with the Government's commitment to improving infrastructure in the field of connectivity,” said Minister Dudy. Furthermore, Minister Dudy emphasized that all modes of transportation should make optimal use of QRIS TAP while continuing to support safety and comfort.
The implementation of QRIS TAP will be carried out in stages until it can be widely used in transportation channels, public services, and other merchants. In the initial stages, it can currently be used in several transportation service locations, parking lots, hospitals, as well as retail and MSMEs, including the Bundaran HI MRT Station and the Lebak Bulus MRT Station, Transjakarta (limited to Royaltrans), DAMRI (limited to JR Connexion Jabodetabek), parking merchants, and hospitals including Tarakan Regional Hospital, RSCM Kencana, and RSPAD Gatot Subroto Kartika Pavilion.
In the next stage, the implementation of QRIS TAP will be expanded to all MRT, Transjakarta, Jakarta and Jabodebek LRT stations, expansion of DAMRI ticketing, KRL (Jabodetabek and Jogja - Solo routes), Teman Bus, and continuous expansion to other merchants. The public can obtain the latest information regarding the technical aspects and stages of implementation of QRIS TAP in the transportation sector and other merchants on the information channels belonging to each operator and merchant.
Users are not charged transaction fees using QRIS TAP, fees are charged to merchants in the form of a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) set for the Public Service Obligation (PSO) and Public Service Agency (BLU) categories at 0%, while merchants in other categories are charged the QRIS MDR according to the applicable scheme. This is in line with support for Asta Cita in providing cheap transportation infrastructure for the community and to continue increasing the use of QRIS TAP in the transportation sector. Going forward, Bank Indonesia is committed to continuing to work together with all stakeholders in order to expand the acceptance of QRIS TAP and develop payment system innovations in a sustainable manner, which is in line with the navigation direction of BSPI 2030.
