Jakarta - MIND ID is here for the country to provide economic added value through the optimal management of mineral and coal commodities so that it benefits all Indonesian people.
In a written statement received in Jakarta on Monday (24/3/2025), MIND ID President Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin said that MIND ID's presence in the mining industry is not just to run business operations, but also to provide economic added value as well as social and environmental benefits.
‘We continue to carry out strategic initiatives so that Indonesia is able to optimise the added value of natural resources in encouraging economic growth, job creation, and economic equality in the regions. This is a form of loyalty and defence of the country from us,’ he said at the commemoration of MIND ID's 2nd anniversary with the theme “Present For The Nation”.
The Indonesian Constitution clearly mandates that the country's natural wealth must be managed for the greatest prosperity of the people.
Article 33 paragraph 3 of the 1945 Constitution states that the earth, water, and natural resources contained therein are controlled by the state and used for the greatest prosperity of the people.
As an extension of the state, the Indonesian Mining Industry Holding SOE MIND ID consistently manages and increases the added value of Indonesia's strategic mineral resources by building Indonesia's mineral and coal supply chain through various downstreaming and industrialisation initiatives.
With responsible mining practices, the company also ensures that every result of the programme that is carried out is truly capable of providing real benefits, both for the community and the environment.
As the holding company that oversees PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium, PT Timah Tbk, and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, MIND ID recorded a revenue of IDR 145 trillion, growing 15.6% in terms of Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) from 2021 to 2024.
This improved performance also boosted MIND ID's net profit to IDR 36 trillion with 36% growth, and the company's total assets increased to IDR 290 trillion with 12.3% growth in the same CAGR period.
This positive business growth also has a direct impact on job creation. In 2024, the MIND ID Group recorded a total direct workforce of 17,000 people, and an indirect workforce of 50,099 people.
In addition to contributing to economic growth, by 2024 MIND ID has also empowered more than 10,000 assisted Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Of these, 702 MSMEs have successfully moved up the class, both in terms of increased turnover and market expansion.
In the environmental field, MIND ID consistently practices responsible mining. Throughout 2022 to 2024, the MIND ID Group has completed the reclamation of 7,274 hectares of land as part of its commitment to sustainability.
Maroef explained that in the two years since MIND ID was officially established, the company had completed various strategic projects, including the divestment of Vale Indonesia shares, the construction of the Phase I Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, the construction of the Freeport Indonesia Smelter in Gresik, and the downstream development of coal into synthetic graphite and anode sheets for electric vehicle batteries.
Going forward, the MIND ID Group will continue to strengthen the national mining industry ecosystem through various strategic projects, including the expansion of the SGAR in Mempawah, the construction of a new aluminium smelter by INALUM, nickel development in East Halmahera, and coal infrastructure development in Tanjung Enim.
‘The moment of MIND ID's 2nd anniversary is to reflect on our journey. With innovation, cooperation, and determination to be present for Indonesia. We will consistently make the best contribution towards Indonesia Emas 2045,’ he concluded.
