Spirit of Borobudur: Reviving Cultural Heritage for the Future


Magelang, The Indonesia Herald - Borobudur Temple, one of the wonders of the world located in Magelang, Central Java, is back in the limelight with the "Spirit of Borobudur". The event aims to revive the spirit and noble values contained in the cultural heritage, while promoting the preservation and understanding of the history and philosophy of Borobudur Temple.

The Spirit of Borobudur, which runs from January to February 2025, is not just a cultural festival, but a movement that invites people to reflect on the meaning of peace, tolerance, and wisdom inherited by the ancestors. This activity is filled with various dance workshops, dance accessories workshops, photo and costume exhibitions, dialogues and Spirit of Borobudur performances.

"Borobudur is not just a building, but a symbol of civilisation that teaches us about harmony, balance and wisdom. Spirit of Borobudur is a momentum to reflect these values in modern life," explained Eko Sunyoto, Chief Executive of Spirit of Borobudur (15/2).

Eko Sunyoto added that the event is also a platform to promote sustainable tourism. The government is working with the cultural community to ensure that tourism activities around Borobudur Temple do not damage the environment and still respect cultural values.

"We want to show the world that Borobudur is not only a tourist destination, but also a source of inspiration to build a better future," said Ki Eko Sunyoto, founder of Sanggar Kinnara Kinnari, Magelang.
