Magelang - The regional heads who participated in the debriefing retreat were warned not to commit corruption. If they commit corrupt practices, they will face the law.
The warning was one of the messages emphasised by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin when he was a speaker at an activity held by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) in the Tidar Valley of the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil), Central Java, Tuesday (25/2/2025).
‘Yes, in essence, an advice not to be corrupt, just like that, if corruption is not brush,’ said Burhanuddin.
In his direction, Attorney General Burhanuddin emphasised the importance of regional heads carrying out their duties properly and avoiding actions that could harm state finances.
He emphasised that corruption not only harms the state, but also hinders progress. The impacts include slowing economic growth, decreased investment, and declining quality of facilities and infrastructure.
‘It creates poverty and income inequality, thus damaging public trust that triggers the quality of the government,’ he explained.
Therefore, corruption must be avoided. The prevention strategy needs to start from oneself by instilling anti-corruption values.
In addition, regional heads are expected to be pioneers in corruption eradication efforts by setting an example for the community.
They also need to apply the principles of integrity, accountability, transparency, and professionalism, and run the government in accordance with the general principles of good governance.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Agustina Arumsari reminded of the potential for corruption that needs to be watched out for, including in licensing services.
Therefore, she emphasised the importance of strict supervision.
On the other hand, she highlighted the importance of supervision in planning and budgeting as an effort to prevent corruption. In addition, he also explained various findings of the results of supervision that had been carried out by his party.
