Indonesia Calls on Islamic World to Actively Support Palestine at OIC-Arab League Extraordinary Summit

Jakarta - Indonesia invites the Islamic world to strengthen solidarity and take concrete action in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people. The call was made by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta during the Preparatory Meeting of the OIC-Arab League Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sunday (10/11/2024).

"The Palestinian struggle for independence is the basis for the formation of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation). That is why we are all Palestinians and must help the Palestinian cause," Anis said in an official statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (11/11/2024).

Anis emphasised that concrete actions are needed from OIC and Arab League member states to stop Israel's ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people.

"Words must be translated into concrete actions, including ensuring sustainable humanitarian assistance for Palestine," Anis said.

Anis led the Indonesian delegation in the meeting held on Monday local time. The Extraordinary Summit aims to discuss the two bodies' collective efforts to stop Israeli violence in Palestine and Lebanon.

Through X social media on Friday (8/11), Anis revealed that the summit was "held in a crucial situation amid the current geopolitical dynamics."

Anis attended the meeting on behalf of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabia and attended by representatives from OIC and Arab League member states, including Algeria, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, and Turkey.

Indonesia's presence at the OIC-Arab League Extraordinary Summit is in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution, which affirms the rejection of colonialism and the commitment to create world peace. In addition, it also reflects President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to fight for Palestinian independence. (InfoPublik.id)
