Sandiaga S Uno Invites Palembang Creative Economy Actors to Develop Regional Creative Economy Excellence

Palembang - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Cabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno invites creative economy players in Palembang, South Sumatra, to develop the potential of superior ecraf in the region as much as possible.

In “Kelana Nusantara” at Utopia Collaboration Space, Palembang, Sunday (15/9/2024), Menparekraf Sandiaga said Palembang has strong ecraf potential, especially in the culinary subsector. Because based on the results of the Indonesian Creative Regency / City Self-Assessment (PM3KI) in 2018, culinary was chosen as the mainstay ecraf subsector in Palembang.

So, this can be a separate attraction to attract tourists to South Sumatra, especially to Palembang.

“About 66 percent of people who travel to tourist destinations always look for local specialties. So Palembang can be proposed as a UNESCO creative city so that it can open up wider business and employment opportunities for the people of Palembang City,” Sandiaga said.

Sandiaga revealed, to increase the potential of ecraf in Palembang, it needs strong collaboration between the Government, ecraf actors, and the community in improving existing attractions, amenities, and accessibility. “The government cannot move alone, therefore we must work together,” he said.

According to Sandiaga, a strong parekraf ecosystem is the main key to developing and marketing the potentials in Palembang. “So for this marketing we can collaborate, then the ecosystem (parekraf) must be built,” Sandiaga said.

In this activity, Menparekraf Sandiaga was accompanied by the Director of Regional Destination Development I Kemenparekraf / Baparekraf, Sri Utari Widyastuti; and Director of Poltekpar Palembang, Iwan Riady.
