Lumajang, Indonesia Herald - Bridges are one of the people's infrastructures to facilitate mobility and cut travel time between regions, which previously had to make long detours due to geographical conditions, such as slopes, hills, ravines, or rivers.
"The existence of bridges can facilitate community mobility for economic activities, so if damage occurs, it requires priority handling or repair," said Lumajang Regent Thoriqul Haq, accompanied by Regional Secretary, Agus Triyono when reviewing broken bridges due to flooding that occurred some time ago, at several points in the Pronojiwo District area of Lumajang Regency, East Java, Monday (10/7/2023).
The Regent also revealed that the review was carried out, because one of the bridges that was cut off was an access connecting two districts, namely Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency and Ampelgading District, Malang Regency.
"Today I directly reviewed several broken bridges in Pronojiwo, one of which is the bridge connecting Lumajang and Malang which has been an access for the economic activities of the community," he explained.
In addition, the regent revealed, related to the bridge connecting Lumajang - Malang will be immediately handled by the Ministry of PUPR with the PUPR budget. The rest will be done by Lumajang district government in collaboration with BNPB, including small-scale bridges will also be done by the East Java Provincial Government.
He added that his party also visited the Kalibiru bridge connecting Darungan Hamlet, Pronojiwo Village and Kebonsenin Hamlet, Sidomulyo Village, as well as the East Supit bridge, Pronojiwo Village, which was cut off due to flooding.
The Regent also handed over compensation assistance to the heirs of three victims who were one family who died due to landslides that occurred in Sriti Hamlet, Sumberurip Village, Pronojiwo Subdistrict. (MC Lumajang Regency/Ad/An-m)
